Fornos de Algodres is a Portuguese village belonging to the district of Guarda, in the province of Beira Alta, in the Center region and sub-region of Beiras and Serra da Estrela, with about 1 600 inhabitants.


It is the seat of the municipality of Fornos de Algodres with an area of 131.45 km² and 4,989 inhabitants (2011), subdivided into 12 parishes. The municipality is limited to the northeast by the municipality of Trancoso, to the east by Celorico da Beira, to the south by Gouveia, to the west by Mangualde and Penalva do Castelo and to the northwest by Aguiar da Beira.

ALGODRES

Algodres is a Portuguese parish in the municipality of Fornos de Algodres, with an area of 10.15 km² and 290 inhabitants (2021). Its population density is 28.6 inhabitants/km².

It consists of the places of Algodres, Furtado and Rancozinho.

It was a town and county seat until the beginning of the 19th century. It consisted of the parishes of Algodres, Casal Vasco (and Ramirão), Cortiçô, Fornos de Algodres, Fuinhas, Maceira, Muxagata, Sobral Pichorro and Vila Chã. In 1801, it had 2,759 inhabitants.

It belongs to the Aldeias de Montanha network.
