Vilar Formoso is a Portuguese village in the municipality of Almeida, district of Guarda in the Centro region of the parish, with an area of 15.14 km² and 2 219 inhabitants (2011). Its population density is 146.6 inhabitants / km². Vilar Formoso is the main entry point by land in Portugal. Over five million people use this crossing point each year, via the highway and railroad. Most of the Imports / Exports carried out by land, from and to Portuguese territory, pass through the Vilar Formoso border.
