History
Numão is a very old population, probably inhabited by Celtic peoples before the Romanization.
From the Roman period, there are several monuments, namely fountains, the bridge over the Teja river, Inscriptions, and the columns of the Roman forum located in the castle.
The castle has a Romanesque church, a cistern, and walls with six towers, which were rebuilt in medieval times and in the 1950s.
You can still see numerous anthropomorphic graves, inside and outside the castle.
The Parish is made up of the villages of Arnozelo and Numão.
